2. Jackson Park
5780 Jackson Dr
La Mesa  CA, 91942
24.0
Recent Review:It's on a busy street (Jackson Dr.) but generally the area is very nice. The street is very quiet at night. There's a park next door. It's walking distance to the Grossmont Trolley Station (about a 15 minute walk). The parking can be somewhat limited.. You get an assigned parking spot in a parking lot. There's usually adequate street parking. The management is pretty good. The apartments are nice in size. They are all 3 bedroom. The complex itself is pretty quiet. It's a collective mix of families and college students, generally. The pool is decent and the laundry room is small, but isn't bad. The washers are really nice. Some of them are new. It's very affordable for a 3 bedroom apartment. There are 2 bedroom apartments in the area that cost more. The lease is month-to-month and in the 2 years I've lived here, they've never raised the rent. Maintenance is okay. Sometimes it'll take a while and the landlord usually fixes things himself. The place just got painted, and looks very nice. I'd definetely recommend it.
3. Mellmanor Apartments
8750 Mellmanor Drive

Recent Review:Apartments and porches are tiny, plus ours is falling off. There is no storage space. There was a night guard that patrolled when I first moved in but not now.Our security consists ofthe few cameras that are set up around the parking lot (and never seem to be helpful when something happens).Consequently several of my neighbors have had their cars broken into and things stolen (such as a motorcycle)
4. The Terraces At Spring St.
4242 Spring St.
La Mesa  CA, 91941
11.0
Recent Review:When I first moved into these apartments they were pretty decent. Then the apartments were sold to new owners. After new owners took over, all of the original staff was either fired or quit. The new owners brought in all new people and hired a new mananger, who manages this apartment complex and one up the street. Needless to say, she is overwhelmed. My shower faucet developed a leak, I told the manager. A month went by and the faucet hadn't been repaired. So I informed tha manager and she had completely forgotten that I had told her my faucet was leaking. Since the new owners took over this place has fallen into serious disrepair. The pool is funky and not heated (as advertised on the sign out front). They hire illegal mexican immigrants to do the work around here and the quality of the work is bad. Well I'm rambling, so let me get to the point. These apartments suck and are overpriced considering how much they suck. DO NOT rent an apartment here.
5. Woodbridge Apt. Homes @ Mt. Helix
10904 Calle Verde Dr.
La Mesa  CA, 91941
13.0
Recent Review:Woodbridge seemed wonderful at first, especially after we had been looking for a larger size apt. w/ no luck! (Unless you are rich.) We have a 2 bdr. 2 bath, about 1010 sq. feet and pay 1200 (usually 1300, we got a move in rate) + 15 for water. Its a bit spendy but we get by. We have heard that they are constantly raising the rent... and they only do 6 month leases! We no longer will be able to afford the place, and they have a hard time actually keeping the place occupied. We have had a couple of maintenance problems, and they EVENTUALLY get to you...if you keep reminding them. They are really stingy with workers so they have been with 1 maint. man for about 5 months now and he's about to go postal. If you need the room, its pretty spacious, but the stackable washer/dryer in the units are a joke and you are constantly doing laundry no matter what. If they break you pay the repair bills (its in the lease!) We are a military family with a baby, so we were concerened about the crime rate. The area is nice, and usually pretty quiet w/ a park nearby, schools, and shopping. You pay pet rent if you have a cat/dog plus a dep. for each! You only get 1 parking space/ apt. and finding guest parking usually a challenge...especially on the weekends. All in all, Woodbridge is average, but latley it seems like we are paying too much for what we are getting. The La Mesa area and Mt. Helix is a nice location, but you are definatley paying for that as well!
